Double-ruled margins giving an area for writing 80mm wide (but the scribe occasionally strays over into the margins). The first 190mm are occupied by the headpiece, and the margin begins only below this Good condition Line count varies Black; red for the initial letters of propisi and some others. Refined penwork; black ink; shadowed ornament, tinted with pale yellow and brown. A headpiece of Barocco type in black ink with pale reddish-brown and yellow washes, incorporating a medallion with the legend; the specimens of ѵ form a tailpiece; each line of the propis' starts with a red small initial (up to 10 high). A piece of stout paper (90mm long) supplied with a tie has been added to the head of the roll in order to fold it up. The roll is kept now in a new British Library box made in 2001.

 On the back of the first leaf: Presented by Hen. Garling, ... 2d March 1859 anonymous. 'Skoropis'; 2 for the lines with propis'; the height of specimens varies. Cyrillic alphabet with 'propisi'. Forms of ѧ are given under ꙗ and forms of ш under щ, while у (ѹ ꙋ) is omitted. For each letter up to щ there are specimens (typically 2 ll., but 11 of а, 5 of б, 4 of в, д and з 3 of ж and 1 of ч, ш/щ) of exclusively skoropis' forms, which may be combined with other letters, and a propis'. There is no propis' for ш. The remaining letters have only half a line of specimens each, except for ѵ, the 6 forms of which form a sort of tailpiece.
