                        <p>Ornamented leather on beveled wooden boards, <dim>230mm x 160 mm</dim>;
                            raised cords on the spine; two clasps. Golden tooling. The central piece
                            on the upper cover is a large medallion with the Crucifixion, the corner
                            stamps bear the images of the Evangelists with Greek captions. Small,
                            single rosettes fill in the empty fields. On the lower cover the leather
                            is stamped by a central piece bearing the image of an eagle in foliate
                            frame; the corner stamps are angel’s heads, the rosettes fill in the
                            empty fields. The whole pattern is characteristic for Russian and
                            Ukrainian Gospel bindings of the late 17th and 18th centuries.
                            Obviously, the binding was not intended for this manuscript.</p>
