Of mediocre quality, characteristic for the late South Slavonic illumination; the linear drawings are coloured by evenly laid paint F. 2v:St. John Chrysostomos, in full length, under an arch, blessing, with a codex in his left hand. The image is copied from the Liturgicon of Michail Sljozka, printed in Lviv in 1646 (Петковић 2002: 404). The arch is decorated with floral and animal patterns. In blue, red, yellow and gold. Within a simple red frame ( 160 95 ), with floral motifs in the inner side of each of the bottom corners. f. 57v: A full-page miniature of St. John Chrysostomos being ordained by St. Flavian in Antiocheia. The images are copied from the Lectures on the Acts, printed in the Kievo-Pechorska Lavra in 1642 (Петковић 2002: 404, fig. 3, 4). The composition is framed, with small floral and foliate motifs at the corners. In blue, red, yellow and gold. Within a simple frame ( 150 95 ) with floral motifs in the inner side of each corner. F. 2*: a bandof interlaced pattern, 48mm 88mm , with an interlaced Cross with the inscription I҆С҃‚ Х҃Ъ centred on the upper line. F. 7v: a bar, of parallel stems with rosette-like widenings and repeated half-leave pattern on the upper line. Ornamented leather on beveled wooden boards, 230mm x 160 mm; raised cords on the spine; two clasps. Golden tooling. The central piece on the upper cover is a large medallion with the Crucifixion, the corner stamps bear the images of the Evangelists with Greek captions. Small, single rosettes fill in the empty fields. On the lower cover the leather is stamped by a central piece bearing the image of an eagle in foliate frame; the corner stamps are angel’s heads, the rosettes fill in the empty fields. The whole pattern is characteristic for Russian and Ukrainian Gospel bindings of the late 17th and 18th centuries. Obviously, the binding was not intended for this manuscript.
